Big Decision, Help Wanted

In Uncategorized on 30/12/2010 at 04:21

I am looking out a rainy day on the lake. Temp. is 42 degrees no wind. I have made a big commitment and need you help. Things get lonely here and in a pique of desperation I decided to adopt a small bundle of joy and responsibility.

The problem is what shall I name her. Here are some pictures and some of my ideas so far:

dec 27,28 006

dec 27,28 004

  • Little Shot
  • Little Money
  • Small Shot
  • Small Change
  • No Change
  • Money Back

Now you see my dilemma. She is beautiful and will be at my back for months to come. I just cannot figure out what to name her. Please Help me. For the sake of God please help me!!!

Ahh.. The Fond Memories

I am sitting on the boat the day after Christmas watching the wind blow at 20 mph and the flurries swirling around the dock. The ship she be a rockin. Empty water bottles are blowing around the cockpit and halyards are banging against the mast. Overall, I am warm inside and doing sailor tasks. even though it is basically an annoying day. Yesterday I was invited to a great dinner and enjoyed the food and company. Made new friends and they talked about the rare white day this time of year.
Well I went into the archives and found a short video taken three weeks ago on the lake. This was the day before the recent unpleasantness began. I hope you enjoy look for the new definition of a circle.

Still At Pebble Isle. Will try to get going early next week. I am getting itchy boat feet. I found out that on this property and the adjacent state park was the Civil War battle of Johnsonville in 1864. Nathan Bedford Forrest routed the union with a surprise attack on November 4th. This was a major supply depot for the Federals in their preparation for the move to Atlanta. This is the only battle in which a Calvary force destroyed a navy force. The north lost dozens of ships and an entire supply depot. I can see the old railroad bed from my  boat. The ships that were sunk are still in the bay area I am in now. Look up the battle of Johnsonville on Wikipedia. I will also be going by the Battle site of Shiloh. for fun a few picks

Froze in

In Uncategorized on 15/12/2010 at 02:14

Woke up in AM to single digit temps and the boat surrounded by ice. Now it is nice and calm with sun. High today mid 20’s. Tonight comes the freezing rain but will warm tommorrow and just have some showers. Will try to leave thursday and take advantage of a weather window to get to Clifton about 50 miles down. This is the coldest december here since 1942.
Makes for a hellava picture though. Barry took this and forwarded it to me. Barry is a local liveaboard.

Hanging in at Pebble Isle

In imagine this allday on 14/12/2010 at 03:07

9:45 AM I got thru a windy night with gusts to 35 mph. Wind chill minus something. Boat rocked and rolled even at the dock. Boat is moving like a lopsided hoola hoop now. Present temp. 16 wind chill –2. Wind should stop this pm. And just be cold. Can’t leave for a few days and need to get engine serviced. Here is some thing from the video file a few seconds of my daily travel. I do this 5-6 hours a day. The joy of boating. Takes about 30 min. to upload here.
