Left the Lollipop about 7:30 this morning heading east to Lake Okeechobee. Passed thru Morehaven lock and head southwest along the canal to Clewiston. You make a decision at Clewiston to cross over the lake or go south and flollow the Rim Route. All the boats were heading across the lake. I looked left – boats- looked south- Bupkus, nada, wide open.
You may guess my choice. Into the wilderness I go.

The Herbert Hoover Dike
If you ever decide to ruin an eco system build a dam around it.
When you lock thru they change the level by opening the gates a bit and let the water come in that way. Somewhat unconventional.

I used to fish in lake Okeechobee many yrs ago…….they had an old Indian saying I remember about the lake….”40 miles long and 40 miles wide and not over 6ft deep and a man could almost walk across it” I was out about 2miles in a Montgomery Wards alunimum motor boat and was still in cat tails………..Vern
