This last Memorial day weekend I decided to go to Dauphin Island for a few days. Meet some folks and hang out.

Looking at the black dot you can see my destination. I left Thursday under fair skies and a following wind of about 8-10 knots

You can see the island in relation to mobile bay. Dog River is just north of the island to the upper left.

Sheltered in the cove the 25 knot winds that came up for three days were kept at bay or out of the bay as it were.

I thought I’d try a day trip to Billy Goat hole on the north east corner of the island. It was a little to rough.

Once a rope gets on a boat it is never a rope again. It becomes a line, halyard, sheet, rode, hawser, painter, cable, mooring line, heaving line, downhaul, outhaul, lashing, lanyard, vang, preventer, etc.
